Embark on an unforgettable 7-day safari adventure that traverses the captivating landscapes of Uganda and Rwanda, unveiling the rich biodiversity, culture, and history of these East African gems. This expedition is tailor-made for those with limited time but a boundless desire to explore and experience more of the remarkable places we’ll visit.

 

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Fort Portal

Our adventure starts at Entebbe Airport, where you’ll arrive early in the morning. After a filling breakfast, our friendly representative, who will be your guide and driver during this exciting journey, will warmly welcome you. The first destination on our itinerary is Fort Portal, and we’ll reach there in the afternoon.

Once in Fort Portal, you’ll check in at your chosen accommodation. There are two options for you to choose from: the comfortable Chimpanzee Guest House if you’re looking for a mid range option, or the luxurious one at  Kibale Primates Lodge for those seeking a more upscale experience.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there. After settling in, we have an exciting nature walk planned for you in the Bigodi Wetland. This walk promises to be a memorable experience. You’ll have the opportunity to spot a wide variety of bird species and maybe even catch a glimpse of some playful primates a midst the lush vegetation.

As you explore the wetland, you’ll also get to interact with the local villagers and learn about the Eco-tourism activities in the area. This is a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture and witness the conservation efforts that are in place.

After an eventful day, you can look forward to a relaxing and comfortable evening at your chosen accommodation, where you can unwind, enjoy a delicious meal, and prepare for the adventures that lie ahead.

 

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park

 

Following a delicious breakfast, we’ll transfer you to Kanyanchu, the headquarters of Kibale Forest, for an enthralling chimpanzee tracking experience. While exploring the forest, you’ll encounter a diverse range of flora and fauna, including other primate species such as Colobus Monkeys and Vervet Monkeys. The forest is also a home to the staggering 320 bird species, offering a delightful treat for birdwatchers. For nature enthusiasts, the forest’s lush canopy showcases various tree species. Tracking the chimpanzees in their natural habitat is a true highlight, as Kibale Forest National Park boasts one of the highest concentrations of primates in the world, with over 12 different species recorded. After your trek, enjoy a well-deserved lunch and then make your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you’ll spend the night at Bush Lodge, Enganzi Safari Lodge (Mid range), or Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury).

 

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kabale

 

The day starts early with an exhilarating game drive on the plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. As the sun rises, you’ll have the opportunity to witness herds of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and perhaps even some predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the diverse bird species that inhabit this park. After the game drive, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. In the afternoon, experience a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel, providing a unique perspective on the park’s abundant wildlife. The night is spent in the comfort of your chosen lodge.

 

Day 4: Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, we’ll journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha Sector. If fortune smiles upon us, we may witness the famed tree-climbing lions lounging in the fig trees. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is a home to the cherished mountain gorillas. You’ll reach the park in the afternoon, where you can relax at your lodge in anticipation of the gorilla trek scheduled for the following day.

 

Choose from accommodations such as Buhoma Gorilla Haven (Mid range) or Bwindi (Luxury) in Buhoma, Gift of Nature Lodge (Budget), Bakiga Lodge, or Gorilla Mist Camp (Mid range), Rushaga Gorilla Haven (Budget), Rushaga Gorilla Camp (Mid range), or Nkuringo Bwindi Lodge (Luxury) for your overnight stay.

 

Day 5: Travel to Volcanoes National Park

 

Begin your day with breakfast and then set off for Volcanoes National Park via the Cyanika Border. Along the way, you’ll pass through Kisoro Town, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the three volcanoes in Maghinga Gorilla National Park. Make a picturesque stopover at the Twin Lakes for some captivating photography. Your night’s lodging options include Muhabura Lodge (Budget), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid range), or Five Volcanoes or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury).

 

Day 6: Golden Monkey Tracking in Parc des Volcanos

 

In the morning, indulge in a delicious breakfast and prepare for a thrilling day of golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park. The adventure kicks off in the morning, and once you’ve successfully tracked these unique primates, enjoy a satisfying lunch. The day continues with a visit to the Ibywacu Cultural Experience at the Gorilla’s Guardian Village, which offers insights into the culture, traditions, history, customs, and beliefs of the Rwandan people. Return to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

 

Day 7: Ruhengeri to Kigali

After breakfast, we’ll depart from Ruhengeri and journey to Kigali. On our way, we’ll visit the Genocide Memorial site, a place of immense historical significance. The center is built on the grounds where over 250,000 people were interred, serving as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of vengeance. It stands as a permanent memorial to those who fell victim to the genocide, providing a place for reflection and mourning. From here, your driver/guide will transport you to either the airport or your chosen hotel, marking the end of our remarkable safari adventure.
