Day 1: Kampala to Kibale National Park – Uganda
This day marks the start of an incredible journey into the heart of Uganda! Our 4-days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour starts in Kampala, the vibrant capital of Uganda. We embark on a mesmerizing drive, winding our way through the lush jungles and enchanting papyrus wetlands of the Nile Delta. As we journey onwards, we pause for a delightful lunch en route to Kibale National Park, nestled near the towering Ruwenzori Mountains, often referred to as the “Mountains of the Moon.”
In the afternoon, we set out on a guided walk within the national park, immersing ourselves in the captivating beauty of the crater lakes area, and embracing the rich local culture. Our night is filled with the flavors of Uganda as we enjoy dinner and find rest near Kibale National Park.
Day 2: Kibale Chimpanzee Trek & Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Uganda
Day two of 4-days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour begins with a heavy breakfast, setting the tone for an adventure-packed day. We kick off by embarking on an exhilarating chimpanzee tracking expedition in Kibale National Park, a home of over impressive 500 chimpanzees. Before venturing into the forest, we receive essential guidance on trekking procedures.
As we trek through the jungle, our knowledgeable guide shares captivating insights about the chimpanzees, the diverse range of primates, and the local flora and fauna. The dense jungles of Kibale Park offer one of the finest opportunities to observe chimpanzees in Africa, where these captivating creatures are often spotted feasting on fig tree fruits.
In the afternoon, we journey south to Queen Elizabeth National Park, keeping our eyes peeled for the resident wildlife during the drive. Our next destination is the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered African Mountain Gorillas and a remarkable variety of wild animals, insects, and plants.
Then in the evening, we relax and indulge in dinner in the vicinity of Bwindi National Park.
Day 3: Bwindi Forest – Uganda
On the third day, we begin with an early breakfast, preparing for an unforgettable African Mountain Gorilla Trekking adventure in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Gorilla trekking is the pinnacle of your Ugandan experience, offering a rare opportunity to witness these highly endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
Guided by experienced rangers from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), we commence our trek at 8:00 am. With anticipation in the air, we delve into the lush forest, forging our way through the undergrowth to locate the elusive Bwindi gorillas. This trek can extend up to 6 hours, requiring a reasonable level of fitness and sturdy walking shoes. Be sure to carry essentials like a rain jacket, water, and snacks, and leave nothing behind in the forest.
Once we encounter the mountain gorilla family, we settle in the forest among these gentle giants. We listen to their captivating communications, observe their interactions, and savor one of Africa’s most poignant wildlife encounters. Following lunch in the forest, we enjoy a well-deserved rest or indulge in bird watching. Later, we return to our intimate lodge to unwind and recover from our unforgettable gorilla trek in Uganda’s Bwindi Forest.
In the afternoon, we embark on a guided walk in Buhoma Village, gaining insights into the daily lives of the local people living in proximity to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This village walk is part of an initiative empowering the local community through tourism, offering a glimpse into the resourcefulness of the people.
As the day winds down, we relish dinner and relaxation at our accommodation.
Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Kampala & Entebbe – Uganda
On the final day of our Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour, we greet the morning with an early breakfast before embarking on our journey back to Kampala and then Entebbe.
Our route takes us via Mbarara, offering an opportunity to visit the Igongo Cultural Village, where we encounter the Ankole and Bahima people. At the Igongo Center, we gain a deeper understanding of the culture and history of these Ugandan communities.
Lunch is enjoyed en route, then we pause at the equator in Uganda, a perfect spot for memorable photographs, before continuing our drive to Kampala and Entebbe. If your departure flight falls on the last day of the safari, we can arrange complimentary airport drop-off.
